Cookie Notice

Last updated: 2 May 2026  ·  Version 1.0

1. What this notice is about

Cookies are small text files that websites and apps store on your device to make things work properly. This notice explains exactly which cookies and similar storage technologies My One Button uses, why we use them, and what choices you have.

This notice supplements our Privacy Policy.

2. The short version

We use only the cookies and storage needed to make My One Button work — keeping you signed in, remembering your preferences, and storing your offline captures so they sync when you reconnect.

We do not use cookies for advertising, cross-site tracking, or any third-party marketing purposes.

That's it. The detail below is for anyone who wants the full picture.

3. What we use and why

3.1 Strictly necessary cookies and storage

These are essential to run the service. Under UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003), strictly necessary cookies don't require your consent because the service literally cannot work without them.

WhatPurposeHow long it lasts
Session cookieKeeps you signed in while you use the appCleared when you close your browser, or after 30 days of inactivity
Authentication tokenVerifies your identity on every request30 days, renewed each time you use the app
Local storage (preferences)Remembers your settings, enabled categories, and persona choiceUntil you sign out or clear your browser data
Local storage (offline captures)Stores captures you make while offline so they can sync when you reconnectUntil they sync, then cleared

3.2 Analytics — PostHog (cookieless)

We use PostHog to understand how the product is used, fix bugs, and improve features. PostHog is configured in cookieless mode wherever the user agent supports it, so it does not set traditional tracking cookies on your device.

PostHog tells us things like:

  • Which features are being used and how often
  • Where errors and crashes happen
  • General usage patterns across all users (not tied to your name or email)

We do not use PostHog data for advertising. We do not share PostHog data with advertisers or any third party.

3.3 What Stripe does

When you make a payment, you are redirected to Stripe's secure checkout page (or Stripe handles payment in an embedded form). Stripe sets its own cookies for fraud prevention and security. These cookies are set on Stripe's domain, governed by Stripe's privacy policy, not ours.

We don't have control over Stripe's cookies. You can read Stripe's cookie policy at https://stripe.com/cookies-policy/legal.

4. What we do NOT use

We do not use:

  • Tracking cookies for advertising
  • Cross-site tracking technologies
  • Third-party advertising networks (Google Ads, Meta Pixel, etc.)
  • Marketing automation cookies that follow you around the web
  • Social media tracking pixels
  • Cookies for any purpose other than running the service

If we ever decide to add any cookies in these categories in the future, we will:

  1. Update this notice to reflect what's added and why.
  2. Implement a proper cookie consent banner where required by UK law.
  3. Ask for your consent before setting any non-essential cookie.

5. Your choices

Because we only use strictly necessary cookies and cookieless analytics, there's nothing to opt out of in our app. The cookies we use are needed for the service to work — disabling them would prevent you from staying signed in.

If you still want to:

  • Block or clear cookies — your browser settings let you control all cookies. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will mean you can't sign in or use My One Button.
  • Use private/incognito browsing — most browsers don't store cookies after a private session ends.
  • Delete your account and data — Settings → Account → Delete account. See our Privacy Policy for what happens when you do.

6. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice when we change what cookies we use or when the law changes.

When we make a substantive change (one that affects what cookies are set, by whom, or for what purpose), we will:

  • Update the "Last updated" date at the top.
  • Notify you via email or an in-app notice.
  • Give you at least 30 days' notice before the change takes effect, where the change requires your consent.

The current version of this notice is always available at https://myonebutton.com/cookies.
